OMI does not, and will never sell “memory foam”

It has come to our attention that one of our competitors, Essentia, is using our trademarked name, OrganicPedic®, in their advertising and claim that they are the new “Organic Pedic memory foam”.

OMI does not, and will NEVER make memory foam mattresses.  This Canadian company is attempting to profit off of our good name and does not respect our American trademark.  The company’s infringement brings into question the lengths it will go to sell a mattress.

  1. Thank you for posting this! I am a happy Lifekind customer, and am SO glad to know that your company has the consumer’s best interest in mind. It’s difficult to shop ‘green’ when so many companies like the one mentioned, are trying to benefit from those who are actually working hard to be that way. Thanks OMI/ Lifekind!

    • Greenwashing is a battle we have been fighting for awhile– but when we saw this company actually saying they were us, we had to let people know.

So glad you love our mattresses- we love what we do!

  4. Hello, I really like companies like OMI produce “greener” products and it’s really a shame other companies are abusing your trademarks.

I was a bit supried that you’re also doing some green washing:
Nautral Latex is a green product, when it’s grown without pesticides, insecticides and fertilizers.
BUT vulcanized Natural Latex is never a green product! You need different chemicals like sulfur monochloride, 2-mercaptobenzonthiazole and Thiram for this step.
Without vulcanization it’s not possible to make the Latex foam.

Yes, vulcanized Natural Latex needs less energy and chemicals than other foam to be produced, but the Latex trees are often grown in monocultures in the third world and the agrarian land can’t be used for food cultivation.

So stop zebra thinking and be honest about the “Natural” Latex.

Continue your path and keep doing good work!

    • Hello Juve, and thank you for your comment.

While it’s true that additives are combined with latex sap during the vulcanization process, they are removed during processing and are present in the finished product in only infinitesimal amounts. In fact, we were the first company to make a fully third-party-certified organic latex mattress (certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard), meaning that over 95% of the materials are organic. Our mattresses are also GREENGUARD Gold Standard certified for low emissions, so our customers don’t have to worry about emissions when they sleep on one of our mattresses.

Thank you again for writing, and here’s wishing you the best of health.
